Spring Fever (sestet)

Crimson line on my thermometer / nearing one hundred and eight.
Temperature's high from spring fever. Bare trees full now
with light brown buds and a few cream colored flowers standing up straight
on the dogwood trees. Got spring fever / Can't wait

for seventy-degree weather, chilly March winds
greenish - yellow pollen blown in on April winds.

Sunflower

Marigold petals / frame its brown center
gradually becoming / a brighter yellow / marigold petals / reach the sky
petals beaming / like the sun. I wonder why
a single sunflower / graces the center
of the field.
